If you want decent fantasy try Robert Holdstock, Phillip Pullman or Ursula LeGuin at least.
I love reading literary critique when it's one big run on sentence.
It makes me giggle.

Its been a while since I've read GRRM's books but that guy kills off characters faster than he can develop them. It goes, "Hi I'm JimBob, I'm going to be a lead character here. (twang) AH!! I got shot! (dead)."

I do agree that Jordan is having problems finishing the series, I think it got so big that he has to be very careful about what he does (and the fact that he in undergoing kemo doesnt help). Book 10 in WoT started before where book 9 ended and maybe progressed two days after words, or so it seemed, but at the end of book 11 you can definitely tell that the next is going to be the last. Which would make sense because the number 13 is significant in WoT and 12 books + 1 prequel = 13 in the series.

GRRM can finish a series, he has made it clear that he is only going to write six in the series and he has done four so far, two more and its done.

I Love the Xeno's Squad and the parallels with the Life Aquatic

I love Goren! I was laughing my a**e off when I read "I don't want the world to end, it's where I keep all my stuff"" (or words to that very funny effect).
